Note de lecture - Yves Beigbeder: Judging War Crimes And Torture: French Justice And International Criminal Tribunals And Commissions (1940-2005)
Un livre sur les politiques françaises face à la justice pour crimes de guerre et torture. A priori, drôle d'idée que de l'écrire en anglais.
L'auteur y retrace la position de la France face à plusieurs contextes: Indochine, Algérie, l'Allemagne nazie et la collaboration, et plus tard le Rwanda ou encore l'ex-Yougoslavie. En 380 pages, difficle d'entrer dans le détail de toutes ces problématiques. Le livre s'adresse donc essentiellement à un public non Français.
Il n'en reste pas moins que l'ouvrage de Beigbeder est de belle facture. Sans complaisance avec la justice de son pays - et avec l'attitude des autorités politiques face à l'exigence de justice suite à des crimes de guerre ou de torture commis par ou soutenus par la France -, Beigbeder retrace certaines des pages sombres du passé colonial français et l'attitude parfois schyzophrénique des décideurs français dans le contexte du Rwanda surtout, de l'ex-Yougoslavie également.
Très instructif, donc. Un gros regret toutefois: le prix du bouquin (125 euros!). A part les bibliothèques de quelques facultés de droit, on ne sait pas trop qui va se payer un tel ouvrage.
